We want our patients to love their bodies at any age, and that includes loving your breasts in your 60s and beyond. If you’re considering first-time breast augmentation at 60+ or have implants and need to make a change, this guide will help you. The advice is intended for patients over 60, but much of the advice can be applied to patients at any age. Contact us with any questions or to schedule your consultation.

First-Time Breast Augmentation Over 60- Am I a Good Candidate?

When it comes to breast surgery, health is more important than age. We’ll carefully review your medical history and discuss any medications you may be using. If you’re relatively healthy, odds are you are a good candidate for breast surgery, no matter your age. Many health concerns and medications don’t disqualify you from surgery. Come see us and we’ll help you decide if you’re able to have breast augmentation.

Is it Time for an Implant Exchange?

If you had breast augmentation many years ago, you may want to consider an implant exchange in your 60’s. Here are a few reasons why.

  • Implants Don’t Last Forever– Implants are long lasting, but they don’t last forever. It may be easier to have surgery in your 60’s to replace an implant than in your 70’s or 80’s should a problem occur. Modern implants are very strong and last a long time, often much longer than older implants.
  • Desire to Resize– Many women choose to resize their implants as they get older. You may want larger or smaller implants to accommodate your changing needs and lifestyle. Implant replacement surgery is typically easier to recover from than an initial breast augmentation.
  • No Longer Want Implants– If you no longer want implants, we can remove them. The removal process varies, depending on the type and size of the implants. We can discuss your options during your consultation.

Make sure you’re performing regular self-exams, visiting your doctor each year, and getting mammograms as recommended.
