Maintaining your trim, toned figure can be difficult. While diet and exercise are crucial for your healthy lifestyle, they sometimes aren’t enough to address the problem areas that develop over time. Some of the small pockets of stubborn fat don’t always respond to lifestyle changes and keep you from attaining the figure you desire. CoolSculpting may provide the solution to reducing the size of unwanted pockets of fat when traditional approaches fail to help you achieve your aesthetic goals.
CoolSculpting is one of the first FDA-cleared devices to help sculpt your body and eliminate fat. Dr. Michael Epstein team can help you transform your body and create the contours you’re working toward. CoolSculpting offers an excellent non-invasive, non-surgical alternative to body contouring procedures.
What Is CoolSculpting?
CoolSculpting is an FDA-cleared, non-surgical, non-invasive fat reduction procedure that freezes fat cells and naturally eliminates them through a process called cryolipolysis. Cryolipolysis freezes targeted fat cells, then the body naturally eliminates the dead fat cells.
Fat tissues are less resistant to cold temperatures than other bodily tissues, so they can withstand much cooler temperatures that are harmful to fat cells. CoolSculpting works to contour and eliminate stubborn fat through consistent exposure to freezing temperatures that damage and destroy those undesired fat cells without harming the rest of your body.
The advanced CoolSculpting technology targets subcutaneous fat while leaving your skin safe and unharmed. Built-in safety protocols allow the CoolSculpting system to automatically shut down to prevent damage if the skin is getting too cold.
A typical CoolSculpting procedure takes as little as 45 to 60 minutes per targeted area, depending on the size of the treated area. Treatment sessions generally last one to three hours. Most patients respond best to CoolSculpting with a series of two to three treatment sessions per area to best achieve their non-surgical body contouring goals.
CoolSculpting Treatment Areas
CoolSculpting® is FDA-cleared to treat and eliminate stubborn fat in a variety of hard-to-reach areas, including:
- Jawline
- Chin
- Upper arms
- Back fat
- Bra rolls
- Flanks, or love handles
- Abdomen
- Thighs
- Inner Thighs
- Outer Thighs
- Buttocks, or the banana roll
Typically, most patients require two or more CoolSculpting treatment sessions per targeted area to reach their body contouring goals.
What Are the Benefits of CoolSculpting?
Without the complications of surgery and little downtime, CoolSculpting aims to help you achieve your body contouring goals in ways diet and exercise cannot. As CoolSculpting is a non-invasive procedure, you can typically resume your normal activities immediately following your treatment.
With personalized treatment plans, CoolSculpting procedures treat the target areas in about an hour per area. Most patients require multiple CoolSculpting treatments spaced every six to eight weeks to achieve their body contouring goals. As it takes time for your body to eliminate the treated fat cells, you will begin to see your gradual results in one to three months. Full results are typically visible in six months.
It’s important to remember that CoolSculpting is not intended as a weight loss procedure but as a body contouring treatment. To maintain your CoolSculpting results, you must continue your usual healthy diet and exercise routine.
Am I a CoolSculpting Candidate?
Good candidates for Chicago CoolSculpting treatments are healthy men and women who live an active lifestyle, including a healthy diet and exercise routine. However, you might still have areas of stubborn fat that don’t go away.
Dr. Epstein recommends candidates for CoolSculpting should:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Be in overall good health
- Have no disqualifying medical conditions
- Have fat that you can grasp with your fingers
- Be within 20 to 30 pounds of your ideal weight
What to Expect During Your CoolSculpting Treatment
After our team welcomes you to our practice, you will have the opportunity to discuss your body contouring goals and expectations from your CoolSculpting treatment.
During your CoolSculpting treatment, we will apply a gel barrier between the applicator and the skin of the treatment area. You’ll feel light vacuum pressure and extreme cold as the treatment begins. However, after about ten minutes, the targeted area will become numb. This effect is only temporary.
CoolSculpting treatments are typically well-tolerated, with most patients experiencing only mild discomfort. Most patients use the treatment time to read, catch up on social media, watch a TV show, or even nap. Following the treatment, the applicators and pads are removed, and the treated areas are massaged for approximately two minutes to help eliminate the fat cells.
Each treatment session takes 45 to 60 minutes per treated site. With CoolSculpting Elite, our technicians can target two areas at the same time.
When Will I See My CoolSculpting Results?
Following your Chicago, IL CoolSculpting procedure, you will begin to notice gradual, natural-looking results within a few weeks. However, you may require multiple CoolSculpting treatments to achieve your aesthetic goals. Over the few months after your procedure, the appearance of your treated areas will continue to improve as your body adjusts to its new contours. Full outcomes are typically observed 3 to 4 months after your last session.
It’s also important to note that CoolSculpting does not replace exercise for physical fitness. You can maintain your CoolSculpting results by continuing your healthy lifestyle, including a nutritious diet and exercise routine.
