How Can I Expect My Neck Lift to Look Over Time?

The neck is one commonly forgotten area where significant aging can occur. Like the face, the neck is exposed to the sun, but often it doesn’t receive the same sun protection or care. If you’re experiencing aging in the neck area, a neck lift could help you to tighten up and restore a younger appearance.

What Does a Neck Lift Treat?

A neck lift is a procedure for treating aging on the neck and lower face. It is ideal for addressing stubborn fat deposits, loose platysma bands, and sagging skin under the chin and in the neck area.

A neck lift can treat:

  • Excess skin and fat on the lower face and neck
  • Muscle banding on the neck
  • Aesthetic concerns caused by loose skin and fat on the lower face and neck including jowls and/or a double chin

A neck lift is often paired with other facial procedures like a brow lift, eyelid surgery, or facelift surgery. If aging is focused in the neck area, it can be performed as a stand-alone procedure.

Do the Results of a Neck Lift Last Forever?

A neck lift removes skin and tightens muscle to revitalize the appearance of the lower face, jawline, and neck. However, it cannot stop the aging process. After your neck lift, aging will continue, and wrinkles and sagging will slowly reoccur.

Think of a neck lift as a reset for the aging process. By removing skin and tightening tissues, your appearance travels back in time. While aging does continue, it restarts from a younger-looking starting point. After a neck lift, patients will always look younger than they would have without the surgery. Most patients will not need surgical correction of aging to the neck area again.

My Neck Sagging is Back. What Can I Do?

If aging returns to the neck, there are options to treat it. Many patients turn to laser treatments to help slow the aging process and restore thickness and tightness to the neck area. Significant aging can be corrected with a revision neck lift. We can also improve the appearance of the neck with chemical peels and other non-surgical treatments in our medical spa.

Caring for your skin can also extend your results. We recommend that patients use sunscreen daily (SPF 30+ is ideal) and care for the skin on the neck just like they do for the face. Our skincare experts can help you create a plan for caring for your skin.
