What is Lipo RF?

lipo-rfLipo RF is a treatment that Dr. Epstein invented by combining two well-known treatments (External radio-frequency and Small cannula lipo sculpting) to improve the overall contour of the treated area. This procedure can gently melt and remove excess fat in small to medium sized areas. The deep heating will also lead to contraction of the skin to re-contour the treated area. These areas may include the neck, the lower face, upper arms or inner thighs.

Lipo RF on the lower face

Lipo RF addresses mild to moderate facial sagging. This new treatment can be a good solution where there is sagging skin that requires tightening and contouring, but may not be quite necessary for a facelift. These areas may include saggy skin and laxity of the cheeks, nasolabial folds, marionette lines and jowl formation. While actual fat removal may be performed in the neck or other body parts below the jawline, it is usually not necessary to suction fat in the face but the same cannulas are used for undermining which affords better skin tightening then just using RF alone.

Can face and neck be done in combination?

Depending on your aesthetic concerns, your cosmetic physician may elect to use either treatment in isolation, or in combination.

How is this better than traditional liposuction?

Liposuction of the neck region can leave the treatment area looking worse if the skin is too lax, resulting in a “turkey neck” appearance. Patients may have better results using Skin Tight, as the heat energy will tighten the area compared to just liposuction alone.

How is this better than a facelift?

When a face lift is indicated, no other procedure will be able to re-contour and lift the neck, jawline, and face better. However, when someone has early signs of soft tissue and skin sag, that patient can benefit from Lipo RF. This shorter procedure can be performed under light sedation or local anesthesia, and has reduced post-procedural swelling and bruising. There is much less down time and less risk. There are also no incisional scars, as with a traditional face lift.

What kind of procedure care is required?

This is a minimally-invasive procedure performed under local anesthesia or light sedation. Post procedure, you can go home and resume your routine shortly after. Wearing a compression garment may be required for only a short period of time (2-3 days).

How quickly will I see results?

Results can be seen immediately, with best results noticeable after 6-12 weeks.

What technology is used?

These procedures use radio-frequency and small cannula liposuction that thermally attacks subcutaneous fat and tightens tissue. This procedure can also be used for treatment of the abdomen, hips, buttocks, thighs, knees, upper arms and other areas of fat deposits that require tightening. Dr. Epstein can evaluate you to come up with the best solution to address all your problem areas.
