Buttock Augmentation
What is Buttock Augmentation?
Buttock Augmentation is a surgical procedure performed to increase the size and shape of the buttocks. Buttock implants are made from a soft solid silicone and are available in various sizes and shapes to accommodate the individual patient's build.A buttock augmentation can be combined with any body contouring procedures such as a thigh lift and liposuction for optimal results.
How is a Buttock Augmentation performed?
Buttock Augmentation is an outpatient surgical procedure performed at our facility, Northbrook Plastic Surgery. An incision is made between the buttocks in the midline. The buttock muscle on one side is lifted up and a pocket is created to house the implant. The implant is then placed in the pocket. The other side is completed the same way. Dr. Epstein makes sure that the contour looks natural and both sides are symmetrical before stitching the incision sites. This procedure takes approximately 2 hours, but may vary depending on the complexity of the case.
What to expect during the recovery period:
- Discomfort, bruising and swelling are normal and can be controlled with medication
- Sutures may be removable or absorbable. You'll need to return to our office one week post-surgery for a follow up visit
- No sitting for 2 weeks post-surgery, unless otherwise directed
- A compression garment must be worn up to 3 weeks post-surgery
- May be some numbness in the areas treated, but feeling will return in 6-8 weeks
- Return to light activities and work 5-7 days post-surgery with very limited lifting, bending and no sitting
- Resume full activities 4-6 weeks post-surgery
