I’m Starting to Develop Crow’s Feet. Will BOTOX® Help?

If you have unwanted wrinkles, BOTOX® is soon to be your new best friend. This powerful anti-aging treatment works by temporarily relaxing the muscles that cause certain types of wrinkles. It works best on dynamic wrinkles, or wrinkles caused by muscle contraction. BOTOX® isn’t effective on wrinkles caused by other common signs of aging like sagging skin, lost elasticity, etc.

How Do Muscles Cause Wrinkles?

Many facial wrinkles are caused by muscles contracting including lines around the eyes (crow’s feet), between the brows (frown lines), and creases on the forehead. As these muscles contract they cause the skin to fold and wrinkle, eventually leading to permanent, lasting wrinkles. BOTOX® works by relaxing these muscles, just enough to allow wrinkles to fade. You’ll still be able to make normal facial expressions, but your wrinkles will smooth away. BOTOX® results are temporary and typically last 3-4 months per treatment. We also offer Dysport, a similar treatment.

Am I Too Young for BOTOX®?

Many men and women opt for BOTOX® before wrinkles have deeply set in. As wrinkles start to appear we can start BOTOX® treatment, relaxing muscles before the wrinkles become deep and permanent. In many cases this can prevent deeper wrinkles from ever developing and can dramatically slow the appearance of aging. The right time to start BOTOX® will vary. If you’re interested in learning more, come see us and we’ll help you decide if you’re ready to start.

I Already Have Deep Wrinkles. Is it Too Late for BOTOX®?

BOTOX® is an excellent option for preventing and delaying wrinkling, but it can also be used to reverse and slow wrinkles that have already occurred. If you have deep wrinkles caused by muscle activity, ask us if BOTOX® is right for you. Often we’ll pair a BOTOX® treatment with a dermal filler. This allows us to relax the muscles that caused the wrinkle in the first place and to smooth out the wrinkles that have already occurred. We have many anti-aging tools at our disposal and will help you find the right combination of treatments for your trouble spots.
